What Are Chirala Beach Timings?

Quick answer: For most beaches around Chirala, sunrise to sunset is the best practical visiting time. Major beaches such as Ramapuram, Vodarevu and Suryalanka may remain physically accessible beyond these hours, but that does not mean entering the sea is permitted or safe at night.

There is no single official opening and closing time for every beach on this coast. Police or local authorities can temporarily restrict water entry or beach access because of cyclones, rough waves, strong currents, high tides, coastal erosion, dangerous sand pits or other emergencies.

Always follow the police, lifeguard and safety instructions displayed at the beach on the day of your visit.

Potti Subbaiah Palem and Katari Palem Beach Timings

Recommended time: sunrise to sunset. These are quieter coastal stretches with fewer tourist facilities than Ramapuram, Vodarevu or Suryalanka. Visit during daylight, especially if you are unfamiliar with the route, and do not assume an empty beach is safe for swimming.

Ramapuram Beach Timings

Recommended time: sunrise to sunset. Early morning and roughly 4 PM to sunset are practical times to visit Ramapuram. The beach is surrounded by resorts, and shoreline access may continue later, but visitors should not treat this as permission to enter the sea at night.

If police, lifeguards or public-address announcements ask people to leave the water, come out immediately.

Vodarevu Beach Timings

Recommended time: sunrise to sunset. Vodarevu (Vadarevu) is one of the best-known public beaches near Chirala. Complete swimming or sea bathing during daylight and obey red flags, ropes, warning boards and police instructions.

Authorities have previously restricted sea entry here when waves and changes in the seabed created unsafe conditions.

Pandurangapuram and Bapatla Coastal Beach Timings

Recommended time: daytime, preferably morning or late afternoon. This coastal belt lies on the route towards Suryalanka. Because individual access points differ, treat locally displayed timings and restrictions as authoritative and avoid unfamiliar isolated approaches after dark.

Suryalanka Beach Timings

Recommended time: sunrise to early evening. Suryalanka is one of the most established tourist beaches on this stretch. Morning and late afternoon are comfortable visiting periods.

The shoreline being accessible later does not mean swimming is permitted at night. Water access can be restricted whenever police or lifeguards consider sea conditions unsafe.

Can Chirala Beaches Be Closed Because of Weather?

Yes. Police and local authorities can temporarily stop visitors from entering the sea or restrict access to a beach when conditions are dangerous.

  • Cyclones or post-cyclone conditions
  • Rough waves or strong currents
  • High tides and unusual sea conditions
  • Heavy rain or thunderstorms
  • Coastal erosion
  • Deep underwater sand pits or sudden changes in water depth
  • Drowning incidents or rescue operations

Restrictions can continue even after the weather improves because rough seas may have changed the seabed or damaged the shoreline.

Does “Open 24 Hours” Mean Swimming Is Allowed 24 Hours?

No. An online “open 24 hours” listing can simply indicate that a beach has no conventional entrance gate. Beach access and sea access are different. Swimming depends on daylight, waves, currents, weather and local safety instructions.

Avoid entering the sea after dark. If you see red flags, ropes, barricades or warning boards, remain within the permitted area.

Best Time to Visit Chirala Beaches

Early morning: Sunrise to about 9 AM is good for walks, photography and cooler weather.

Evening: Around 4 PM to sunset is popular for families and casual visits.

Midday: Beaches remain accessible, but exposed sand and heat can be uncomfortable, especially in summer.

After sunset: Avoid entering the sea. Quieter beaches are best visited during daylight.

Before You Go

  • Check the current weather and cyclone warnings.
